2017: The Year You Need to Stop Playing

If you look up insanity in the dictionary, you’ll find that it’s defined as the state of being seriously mentally ill, madness, extreme foolishness and irrationality. I have also heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time. How many times and how many ways can you add 2 and 2 before you truly understand the result with always, and forever, be 4? 2017 is the year that all of that needs to change.

There is something that you are passionate about. There is something that sets you apart from each and every person on this planet. It is your gift. It is what makes you unique. You have something that you need to show the world and you are currently sitting on your talent. Maybe you make the best version of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that anyone has ever tasted, or you can solve a complex computer problem in a short period of time, or you can soothe a crying baby or toddler with a simple method. You have some type of talent that needs to be shown off. Do you want to keep holding on to it or are you willing to stop playing and show off what God has blessed you with?

Don’t get me wrong, nothing is easy. It is not easy to start anything. If you want to start a business, a website, a book, or anything that isn’t corporate America, it will be hard. People around you don’t always understand why you want to go against the grain and do something outside of their realm of thinking. At first, it all sounds like a good idea. They cheer you on and say good for you. Then, when they realize you’re serious, that you stop going out as much so that you have money to contribute to your project, or that you talk about it because it’s the center of your world. They may not understand and they may criticize but that does not mean, don’t start or give up. This is for you!

Don’t voluntarily give up on what’s rightfully yours. Your talent and your gift belong to you. Choose this year to stop making excuses and start making moves. If you’re waiting for the right moment, you’re always going to be waiting. 2017 will be the year of right moments.
